Post-traumatic or post-operative irritation, e. g. following treatment with a plaster cast in the case of scaphoid fractures
Pre-operative care
Tenosynovitis at the radial side (moderate)
Osteoarthritis of the carpometacarpal joint of the thumb (severe)
Sprains / contusions
Carpal tunnel syndrome (moderate)
Collateral ligament injuries, e.g. skier‘s thumb
BENEFITS AND MODES OF ACTION
The orthosis prevents incorrect movements of the proximal and distal parts of the wrist as well as of the metacarpophalangeal and carpometacarpal joints of the thumb
Limitation of rotational movements in the wrist thanks to the orthosis‘ longer lever
Immobilisation of the wrist thanks to shapeable aluminum stays
Stabilisation of the wrist in a functional position thanks to anatomically shaped metacarpal stay
Practical Velcro fastenings and retraction stops on the straps make it easy for the patient to put on the orthosis using only one hand
Edges finished using ultrasonic welding for increased durability and an improved look; sensitive skin in the elbow area is softly cushioned /enclosed
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
The metacarpal stay with ventilation slots, the stays at the sides and the frame made of aluminum are individually shapeable
Over the course of the treatment, the thumb can be increasingly allowed movement and the thumb brace can eventually be removed completely
